What we do!

Sustainability at Wendy’s Childcare Services

At Wendy’s Childcare Services, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to being environmentally conscious and addressing sustainability issues through our services. Our goal is to create a positive impact on the planet while nurturing and educating the children in our care.

Lowering Our Carbon Footprint
We actively encourage children to participate in activities that help reduce our carbon footprint. This includes incorporating nature and the natural world into our learning activities. While we understand it's not always possible, we promote the idea of parents walking their children to our setting. We also limit car journeys for outings by walking to local woods and parks.

Locally Sourced Meals
Our meals are prepared using as much locally grown produce as possible. We take pride in growing our own vegetables, salads, and fruits. This not only ensures fresh and nutritious meals for the children but also supports local agriculture.

Sustainable Practices
We teach children simple, yet impactful, habits like turning off taps after washing and staying active to keep warm and healthy. We compost any fruit and vegetables peelings which are turned into compost by the local council, we use natural ingredients for cleaning like Bicarbonate of soda to protect our waterways, and we recycle all paper, card, plastics and tins. These practices help embed the message that we are dedicated to providing a sustainable service that meets the needs of the children while taking care of our planet.
